The “Oh, Be Joyful” Lodge sits on Peak 8 above downtown Breckenridge with beautiful views of Peaks 6 and 7. It’s your stepping off point to miles of beautifully groomed trails located right out the back door.
It’s an architectural joy, which needs to be experienced in person to be truly appreciated. It was designed with one goal in mind: to create a warm and inviting event space in Breckenridge that naturally welcomes everyone who enters.
Lodge History
Construction of the lodge began in 2012 under the guidance of Gene and Therese Dayton. It was carefully built using almost 90% recycled materials.
It uses indigenous wood from the area, including spruce trees that were felled to make room for the Breckenridge Ski Area gondola, and incorporates locally harvested pine beetle-killed wood. All the logs, including the huge spruce and douglas fir log posts, were milled and lathed locally by the Daytons with the peeling and staining done by hand.
Food, Drinks, & Events
The lodge is the center of the Breckenridge Nordic Center’s operation. It contains the Nordic equipment and rental and retail space and is also where the guest check-in is located.
Conveniently adjoined is a bar and family lounge area with a large fireplace constructed from Arkansas moss rock. You’ll enjoy spending time in the old-world-feeling atmosphere and enjoy great food and drinks. Daily Happy Hour is from 3:30 to 5:00 PM with specials that you won’t want to miss. Enjoy live music and an extended happy hour on select evenings during the ski season. The lodge wasn’t built just to host world class Nordic sports. It is also a premier event space in Breckenridge and wedding venue. The property is a private venue which is yours for your event, and creates an experience that’s hard to duplicate but easy to arrange.
